SIA was commended for its quick response in adding more capacity to Asia-Europe routes.

IATA director-general Willie Walsh said the benefits are temporary and will not make a long-term difference because the Gulf hubs will recover once stability is restored in the region.

The top-ups amount to more than $145m in total for over 450,000 seniors born in 1949 or earlier.
